Mathieu Friedberg is the Chief Executive Officer of CEVA Logistics, one of the world’s largest third-party logistics providers and a key subsidiary of the French shipping group CMA CGM Group. Since assuming the role of CEO in January 2020, Friedberg has been responsible for guiding the company’s global strategy, overseeing operations that span freight forwarding, contract logistics, and integrated supply chain management across more than 170 countries.
Headquartered in Marseille, CEVA Logistics operates a vast logistics network that includes more than 1,000 facilities worldwide and employs over 110,000 people. The company manages millions of square meters of warehouse space and provides transportation and logistics services for industries such as automotive, aerospace, retail, technology, healthcare, and energy. As part of the CMA CGM Group, CEVA plays a strategic role in building an integrated logistics ecosystem that connects maritime shipping, inland transport, and supply chain services.
Friedberg’s appointment as CEO came during a period of major transformation for the company. CEVA had been acquired by CMA CGM in 2019, creating one of the world’s largest integrated shipping and logistics platforms. Friedberg was tasked with accelerating CEVA’s integration within the CMA CGM Group while strengthening its position in global freight forwarding and contract logistics.
Before becoming chief executive, Friedberg built a long career within CMA CGM. He joined the group in 2000 and held a series of senior leadership roles that gave him extensive experience in international shipping and logistics operations. Among his key positions was Senior Vice President for the Asia-Europe trade line, one of the busiest container shipping corridors in the world. He also served as Senior Vice President of Commercial Agencies, overseeing the company’s global commercial network and sales strategy.

Earlier in his career, Friedberg worked in international finance and consulting, including roles with global financial institutions that exposed him to corporate restructuring, financial strategy, and cross-border business operations. This background later proved valuable in managing complex international logistics organizations and large-scale corporate integrations.
Friedberg is a graduate of École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Paris (HEC Paris), one of Europe’s leading business schools, where he studied finance and management. His academic training in corporate finance and strategic management has informed his leadership approach in the logistics industry.
Since taking the helm at CEVA Logistics, Friedberg has overseen several major strategic initiatives designed to expand the company’s global footprint. One of the most significant developments has been the acquisition and integration of the logistics operations of Bolloré Logistics, which was purchased by CMA CGM in 2023 for approximately €4.85 billion. The acquisition added a large global freight forwarding network, significantly strengthening CEVA’s presence in Africa, Asia, and Europe.
Through this integration, CEVA expanded its operational scale and service capabilities, increasing its network of logistics facilities, air and ocean freight capacity, and global workforce. The move positioned the company among the top tier of global freight forwarders and logistics providers.
Friedberg has also overseen CEVA’s expansion into new logistics sectors, including e-commerce fulfilment, automotive supply chain management, and complex project logistics for industries such as energy and infrastructure. The company continues to invest in digital supply chain platforms designed to improve cargo visibility, predictive planning, and operational efficiency.
Another focus of Friedberg’s leadership has been sustainability and energy transition within logistics operations. CEVA Logistics has introduced initiatives aimed at reducing emissions across transport networks, including the deployment of low-emission vehicles, investment in alternative fuels, and supply chain optimization programs designed to reduce environmental impact.
Under Friedberg’s leadership, CEVA has continued to expand its global footprint while reinforcing its integration within the broader CMA CGM ecosystem, which includes container shipping, port terminals, and air cargo operations through CMA CGM Air Cargo. This integrated model allows the group to offer end-to-end logistics services across sea, air, land, and warehousing.
Mathieu Friedberg’s career reflects the increasingly interconnected nature of global logistics, where shipping lines, freight forwarders, and supply chain service providers are converging into integrated logistics platforms. As chief executive of CEVA Logistics, he continues to lead the company through a period of rapid transformation in global trade, supply chain technology, and international transportation networks.
