Code of Conduct

All members of the Global Intermodal Council Institute®, whether Member (MGICI®) or Fellow (FGICI®), are required to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, ethical behavior, and leadership within the global intermodal logistics ecosystem. Certification reflects not only professional achievement but also a commitment to integrity, accountability, and the advancement of the industry.

1. Ethical Conduct

Members shall:

+Conduct themselves with honesty, integrity, and fairness in all professional dealings.

+ Avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any situations that may compromise impartiality or professional judgment.

+ Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards in the jurisdictions where they operate.

MGICI® members are expected to uphold these principles within their roles and organizations, while FGICI® Fellows are expected to demonstrate leadership in promoting ethical standards across organizations, markets, and the wider intermodal ecosystem.

2. Professional Competence

Members shall:

+ Maintain and enhance knowledge, skills, and expertise relevant to their role and the intermodal logistics sector.

+ Deliver professional services with diligence, care, and competence, ensuring decisions are informed, responsible, and industry-aligned.

+ Support continuous professional development for themselves and, where relevant, for their teams or peers.

FGICI® Fellows are expected to demonstrate sustained leadership in advancing industry capability and influencing best practices beyond their immediate organizations.

3. Leadership and Stewardship

Members shall:

+ Act as stewards of the intermodal logistics industry, promoting sustainable, ethical, and value-creating practices.

+ Contribute to the development of colleagues, peers, and the broader professional community through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and thought leadership.

+ Represent the Institute and its values in all professional and public interactions.

FGICI® Fellows are expected to exemplify strategic leadership and act as role models, shaping standards, governance, and industry priorities globally or regionally.

4. Confidentiality and Professional Integrity

Members shall:

+ Respect confidentiality and safeguard sensitive information acquired in professional engagements.

+ Refrain from using Institute membership, MGICI®, or FGICI® designation to gain unfair advantage, misrepresent qualifications, or promote personal interests unethically.

+ Report any conduct or activity that may materially undermine the integrity of the Institute or the intermodal logistics profession.

5. Accountability and Compliance

Members shall:

+ Comply with all policies, rules, and procedures established by the Global Intermodal Council Institute®.

+ Respond promptly to requests from the Institute regarding compliance, audits, or professional conduct investigations.

+ Understand that breaches of this Code may result in suspension, revocation of designation, or other disciplinary actions deemed appropriate by the Institute.

MGICI® members are accountable for maintaining personal professional standards, while FGICI® Fellows are additionally accountable for promoting and enforcing these standards within the wider professional and institutional ecosystem.

6. Commitment to the Profession

Members shall:

+ Actively contribute to the advancement, reputation, and integrity of the intermodal logistics and supply chain profession.

+ Participate in initiatives, forums, and programs that enhance the professional capabilities of the community.

+ Promote collaboration, innovation, and responsible leadership across the global intermodal value chain.
