The Global Intermodal Council Institute® maintains clear and structured eligibility standards to ensure that its professional designations reflect real-world competence, leadership responsibility, and meaningful industry contribution. Admission to both Member, Global Intermodal Council Institute® (MGICI®) and Fellow, Global Intermodal Council Institute® (FGICI®) is based on a holistic review of professional background rather than examinations. The Institute evaluates candidates across education, experience, scope of responsibility, leadership impact, and ethical standing. While MGICI® recognizes established professional capability, FGICI® represents senior leadership distinction and long-term industry influence.
All applicants to the Institute are expected to demonstrate sustained engagement within the intermodal logistics, shipping, supply chain, transport, infrastructure, or enabling services ecosystem. Candidates must show professional integrity, credibility within the industry, and alignment with the mission and values of the Global Intermodal Council. Admission is selective and subject to review by the Institute. Meeting minimum thresholds does not guarantee admission.

The MGICI® designation is intended for professionals who have established credible careers within the intermodal logistics and supply chain ecosystem and who demonstrate readiness for senior leadership. Applicants are typically individuals with meaningful operational, commercial, technical, or managerial responsibility and a proven track record of performance within their organizations or sectors. MGICI® recognizes accumulated competence, professional discipline, and commitment to industry standards. MGICI® serves as both recognition and progression, providing a professional anchor that supports continued leadership development and industry engagement.
The FGICI® designation represents the highest level of professional recognition within the Institute. It is reserved for individuals whose careers reflect strategic leadership, institutional influence, and sustained contribution to the advancement of intermodal logistics and global trade. FGICI® candidates are expected to demonstrate leadership impact beyond functional roles, including influence on organizations, markets, policy, investment, or industry direction. Fellowship reflects peer recognition of judgment, stewardship, and credibility rather than seniority alone. Admission to FGICI® is selective and discretionary, reinforcing its standing as a prestige designation within the global intermodal community.
MGICI® membership does not automatically confer eligibility for FGICI®. Progression is based on demonstrated growth in leadership scope, responsibility, and industry contribution over time. Many Fellows begin their engagement with the Institute as MGICI® members before being elevated to FGICI® through nomination and review.
Certification begins with an application or nomination and concludes with the formal issuance of credentials. Throughout the process, candidates are assessed against published eligibility thresholds and professional standards established by the Institute. A non-refundable application or nomination fee applies at submission. Successful candidates are required to pay a one-time certification fee prior to issuance of credentials. An annual membership fee applies thereafter to keep the certification current and in good standing.
